Canning Stock Route 2026
21 days, 20 nights • Wiluna, WA to Halls Creek, WA • Suitable for Trailers
The Canning Stock Route is widely regarded as the longest and most remote 4WD track in Australia. Take on the challenge of the Canning in 2026 with our Limited Edition Canning Stock Route tour.
The Canning Stock Route (CSR) was surveyed by Alfred Canning in 1906 and constructed with the establishment of 52 wells over two years from March 1908 to April 1910. Stretching some 1,850km, the CSR provided a way of moving beef cattle south to markets. Our 2026 Canning Stock Route tour, starting at Wiluna and finishing 21 days later at Halls Creek, will let you make the most of this amazing experience, in safety and with none of the planning hassle.
Drivers: Primary drivers should have at least some off-road driving experience, and preferably remote area travel experience.
Vehicles: Vehicles require a raised clearance, dual range and all-terrain or mud-terrain tyres. A snorkel is recommended. You will need to carry enough fuel for 820km range (factor in low range and potentially towing in rugged terrain) as it will be at least 745km between fuel stops.
Camping: All 4x4 Explore tours are suitable for tents, swags, etc. This tour is also suitable for appropriate single axle off-road camper trailers. Trailers must be built for off-road towing in rugged terrain, have suitable clearance and all-terrain tyres. The nature of the track requires highly capable towing and towed vehicles, and some off-road camper trailers will not be appropriate. 4×4 Explore will assess trailer suitability for the tour on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to tow, please discuss with us before booking.
