About 4x4 Explore.

Use your 4WD to do

what it was built to do.

Australia is a truly beautiful country, and we would love to help you explore it.

4x4 Explore is an Australian veteran-owned and operated tour company. We plan, book and lead 4WD tagalong tours of some of the most iconic and remote parts of Australia. We provide information packs that help prepare you and your vehicle for your tour. And our experienced guides can support you to tackle all challenges.

You bring a 4WD, your camping gear, cooking gear, food and water. And some fire wood for our awesome campfires. We make preparing for an experience like this easy, provide the safety of travelling in a group, and facilitate what is for many a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience.

Why 4x4 Explore?

Why 4x4 Explore?

Whether you join one of our scheduled tours or ask us to arrange a custom one for you, each 4x4 Explore tour includes:

  • We take care of research, route planning and risk assessments and we lead the group each day. All you have to do is follow us to see all the highlights of your chosen tour.

  • Do our scheduled tour dates not quite suit? Are our destinations or itineraries not quite what you’re after? You can contact us to discuss alternate tour dates or custom tours.

We also offer large-group bookings for more than six vehicles, as well as customised corporate and private tours.

  • We arrange all the passes, permits and bookings required for access and camping, making your experience hassle-free.

  • On our standard scheduled tours, we don’t charge extra for passengers in your vehicle. Bring the whole family, or get some friends together to share the cost.

    * Our Limited Edition Tours may include additional passenger costs but we will be clear if this is the case.

  • You will receive vehicle preparation information and packing recommendations to help ensure your vehicle and passengers are well prepared for your tour.

  • Throughout your tour, your experienced guide will share off-road driving techniques, tips on navigating obstacles, vehicle recovery assistance, and (on tours that include trailers) safe towing tips.

We also provide the safety of travelling as part of a group led by an experienced tour guide qualified in remote area first aid.

Additionally, your guide will carry paper and electronic maps, GPS, first aid kit, emergency satellite communications and an emergency beacon.

We can also support you if you don’t have a 4WD and would like assistance to hire one through one of our partner companies. Contact us.

  • We will share some of the amazing history and stories of the areas you visit on your tour.

  • Whether you choose to swim, take a walk, read a book, stargaze or just do nothing, our tours include time to relax.

  • We facilitate fun social activities for your tour group, usually around a roaring campfire.

  • We offer a range of flexible and secure payment options.

You can book and pay securely online using a credit or debit card, Apple Pay or PayPal including PayPal’s ‘Pay in 4’ option.

Alternatively, you can contact us to arrange to pay by bank transfer, including if you wish to pay a deposit immediately to reserve your place and the balance six weeks before your tour departs.

All our tours are self-drive and self-catered. You will need to provide your own 4WD, camping gear, cooking equipment, food and drinking water. Contact us if you don’t have a 4WD and would like assistance to hire one. Some tours provide opportunities for you to purchase meals at restaurants, pubs and hotels.
