Tyre Repair Kits

In most 4WD situations, one spare tyre is sufficient. But it is not unheard of to get two flats on the same side from the same hazard, and not all tyre damage can be repaired on the side of the track, which is why I recommend carrying two spare tyres for remote outback travel. If you damage one tyre there is a level of confidence and comfort in knowing that you still have a good spare.

Whether you carry one spare tyre or two, a tyre repair kit can provide some additional peace of mind. Plugging a stake puncture with repair cord may just slow down your leak enough to get you to assistance. It is worth carrying, but you also need to know how to use it. This video runs through the contents of a tyre repair kit, how to replace a leaking valve, and how to plug a puncture.
